I'm brand new to the forum, so I very much apologize if this question was answered directly in a previous thread. I'm a weekend recording engineer, mostly just recording my own drum tracks and little projects. I run Logic on a Macbook Pro which is a few years old. I recently purchased a new interface and NI Komplete 9, and I'm having some issues when I'm trying to use a MIDI controller to use some of the virtual instruments in Komplete (latency, slow response, gritty unclear sound, etc)when there are other audio regions active, so I'm thinking my computer may be to slow to handle all the information and I need to upgrade. So, I'm wondering if a Mac Mini has the processessing power to be a recording computer. I know must studios tend to use mac pros, but that's a little outside my price range. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences running DAW's and virtual instruments on a Mini? Thanks everyone for your time! Posts: 2 Joined: Tue Jun 25, 2013 12:00 am. I know a top hollywood composer who uses one. He uses G5s, PCs and a mac mini. Because for some strange reason, this topic incites violent debatesthat last. He told me that the most powerful computer at his studio is the mini. He runs PT, Logic, Gigastudio slaves, and a video slave. I think the mini runs logic. Mac computer for studio recording. In Logic he uses hundreds of midi tracks but I don't think any audio because he records all his stems in PT. His mini is old so new ones will work considerably better. Cheap Mac Mini For SaleIMO my old computer has lower specs than the new minis and I managed to work with it. I had 100 track projects and it handled it fine. My latency was at around 20 ms. Lower could cause problems on it but even on my current computer (equivalent to the mac pros that got replaced by the new one) in can have glitches with lower than 20 ms when I work with over 200 tracks.
